Mechanics working in the ship hydraulics sector are responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems used on various types of vessels. These systems may include steering gear, winches, cranes, hatch covers, stabilizers, propulsion systems, and other hydraulically operated marine equipment.

Job description:
  • Diagnosing hydraulic system issues using technical drawings, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Disassembling and assembling hydraulic components such as pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses, and filters.
  • Replacing worn or damaged parts, ensuring correct fit and functionality.
  • Flushing and refilling hydraulic systems, ensuring proper fluid levels and cleanliness to prevent contamination.
  • Installing new hydraulic systems or components on ships according to technical plans and customer specifications.
  • Testing systems after repairs or installation to ensure proper operation and adherence to safety standards.
  • Performing routine maintenance to prevent failures and ensure reliability of onboard hydraulic equipment.
  • Collaborating with engineers and supervisors to plan repairs and upgrades during dry dock or voyage maintenance schedules.
Requirements:
  • We expect our mechanics to have hands-on experience working with hydraulic or mechanical systems, preferably in the ship repair or maritime sector.
  • A strong sense of responsibility, precision, and attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to work efficiently both individually and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills in English are required to ensure effective collaboration on international job sites.
